Hawkshead Relish scoop 2013 Great Taste awards with 2 Three Star GOLDS

Hawkshead Relish is celebrating after it was announced by the Guild of Fine Food that their highest accolade has been awarded to TWO of their handmade preserves.

The newly launched ‘Windermere Pale’ Real Ale Jelly and Damson Vinegar both were victorious following the vigorous judging involving more than 40 experts from across the speciality food industry.

The Ale Jelly is made using Windermere Pale a popular brew from the award winning Hawkshead Brewery. It was conceived as an accompaniment for cheese with the idea developed from Italy’s ‘Gelatina di Birra Cometa’ being described by the ‘Guilds judges ‘Looks like a marmalade but boy does this surprise…A fabulous hop-hitting palate revelation!’

The Damson Vinegar which again boasts a Cumbrian regional origin uses Lyth Valley damsons and won comments, ‘ A beautifully balanced, unique vinegar with a hint of cinnamon’.

The 3 STAR Gold is only awarded to those products which receive a unanimous approval. Mark Whitehead co-owner of Hawkshead Relish and who is creator of the inspired range exclaimed ‘These awards are great news for Hawkshead Relish and testimony to the finest ingredients we use; in the case of these two products these lie on our very doorstep!’

A further 1 Star GOLD was achieved for the Hawkshead Relish, an aptly named Worcestershire sauce making the Hawkshead Relish Company Great Taste Award count to 50. Now Hawkshead Relish have to wait to until the 9th September where the Guild of Fine Food will announce the overall winner at a gala event in London.
