Damson & Basil Jelly wins IFE ‘Fresh Ideas’ award | March 2013
Hawkshead Relish, Cumbria producers of artisan preserves are recognised at international level for their innovation in creating world class condiments.
The Damson & Basil Jelly is NEW to the distinctive range comprising of over 120 handmade preserves. Using locally gathered Lyth Valley Damsons which are peculiar only to the Lake District combined with fresh fragrant basil leaves this natural apple based condiment is totally unique and wowed the esteemed judging panel in the speciality category.
The ‘Fresh Idea’ awards were designed to find the very best innovations in the food industry and incorporated entries from an international gathering of producers covering all food sectors at the IFE, UK’s largest food industry exhibition.
Hawkshead Relish managing director, Mark Whitehead who provides the inspiration behind the award winning range and who devises all the recipes was presented with the award in a ceremony on Sunday 17th March. “We are absolutely delighted that the Damson & Basil Jelly is being recognised for the gastronomic gem it truly is, and given that its provenance lies very much in its Lake District origins in creation and ingredients” remarked Mark.
The jelly was recently awarded CHAMPION at the ‘Taste Cumbria’ awards which searched for the very best culinary creations in Cumbria, a county that boasts prevalence in artisan producers.
