Lizzie's handmade award winning compotes, delicious culinary creations from Lizzie Smith, one of the Lake District's food heroes and now being made here at Hawkshead Relish.

Lizzie Smith has been a great friend of Hawkshead Relish over the years, she had a "Eureka" moment whilst on holiday in Umbria and decided to bring the flavours to her home town in Cumbria. The Italians have long married sweet and savoury flavours with fabulous results and none more so than with these wonderful Fruit Compotes which can be served as a dessert or with cheese or your morning porridge, or just straight from the jar - once tried never forgotten.  

Lizzie decided to retire from making them in 2009 and here at Hawkshead Relish we were delighted when she asked us to take over the production for her. It was not a big decision for Hawkshead Relish to make  - we love Lizze and her compotes.
