Floods in Hawkshead

Whilst the national news reports the flooding in the Northern towns of Cumbria, we here in Hawkshead have had our flooding dramas, the shop was flooded but luckily quick thinking by our warehouse team diverted the river that used to be the road by blocking up the doors with huge sacks of sugar to act as sand bags! Others in Hawkshead were not so lucky with many homes flooded and the stacks of carpets and furniture outside in the streets bear testament to this. The village itself was cut off for 3 days and we had children stranded at Nurseries and Schools where they had to stay overnight. Many roads were just overwhelmed with water pouring through the fields and bringing down walls and debris making them impassable.

As I write it is again pouring with rain although we are being told that it won't be as much as last week. Thursday and Friday were the worst with us having to stop all production for two days and no deliveries were able to get in or out until Monday - This has meant a bit of a backlog with orders going out but we hope to have caught up by the end of today Tues 24th Nov, 2009.  So please if you are waiting for an order bear with us and will get it to you. Feel free to give us a call on 015394 36614 if you are at all unsure of the whereabouts of your order and we will be happy to advise you of the delivery status.
