Lizzies Handmade comes to Hawkshead
We are delighted to announce that Lizzie Smith renowned Lakeland Artisan of Handmade Compotes inspired from her travels in Italy, so fittingly from Umbria to Cumbria comes Lizzes Handmade award winning compotes.
Lizzie has not only won accodales from the Great Taste Awards but was one of the winners of the Waitrose Best Producer awards in 2008, Which was a great acheivement for lizzie who was making by hand her range of five compotes from her own kitchens at home. But these awards have propelled Lizzie into a world where she now needed to be able to upscale her production which meant looking for new production kitchens which would also be approved to the new SALSA standards, the costs for this were prohibitive, and so we at Hawkshead were delighted to be able to step in an help Lizzie solve the problem.
So from April Lizzie will be working with us here in our state of the art kitchens and we will be helping to produce her range, we are thrilled to be working with her in this new and exciting venture, you can now buy the compotes directly from our online shop and try them for yourself.
Mark and Maria spent a glorious spring day (in March 2009) with Lizzie on the left tasting and creating some of her fabulous compotes, what a life !
