Bad Weather causes flooding in the Lakes
What a difference a week makes, All the wet weather has gone and in its place we have had a week of beautiful cold crispy sunny days, the Autumn colours have peeked and the leaves are now dropping fast but the scenery with some light dustings of snow on the fell tops is dramatic and as beautiful as it can be, driving the children to school each morning with this back drop is hardly a pennance!
The media coverage over the weekend of the 25/26th October has indeed shown the Lake District fulfilling its name of "Lake District" with many roads closed due to significant flooding where falling leaves had blocked the drains and the rivers had broken their banks in a number of places. However, today Monday 27th has dawned bright and sunny and all the roads to and from Hawkshead open and clear from flooding once again. There are a few pockets where roads are closed but on the whole the area is back to normal.
The trees and colours of Autumn are at their peak this week and look wonderful today in the glorious sunshine which makes a welcome change to the downpours over the weekend. So if you are planning a visit and worrying about the roads - fear not, tune in to local Radio (Lakeland Radio) on 100.4 and they will keep you updated should the sitaution change.
